Expro has reinforced its position at the forefront of energy technology innovation by winning Best Controls, Instrumentation, Automation Technology – Upstream at the Gulf Energy Information Excellence Awards for its iTONG™, the industry’s most technologically advanced autonomous connection make-up and validation systems.
The awards attracted a record 560 nominations, with 44 awards presented across the upstream, midstream and downstream sectors.
The recognition follows eight finalist nominations spanning completions, controls and automation, deepwater, digital transformation, health, safety and the environment, pipeline integrity, and production technology.
iTONG™, part of Expro’s Auton™ solutions, automates the make-up and break-out of casing and tubing connections at the push of a single button. Operated remotely from the driller’s cabin, the system provides precise torque control and full connection validation while eliminating the need for personnel to work in the hazardous Red Zone of the rig floor. This helps improve safety, well integrity and operational efficiency.
Auton™ brings together automation, mechanization, remote control and Expro’s expert oversight to help reduce personnel exposure while maintaining operational control. It is designed to create safer, more controlled and efficient working environments by engineering exposure out of tasks wherever possible.
