Maintaining well integrity often feels like an uphill struggle. Collar and casing leaks are an ever-present menace, thief zones threaten oil recovery rates and the ingress of water, sand or gas can quickly bring production to a grinding halt.
With the advent of modern casing patches, isolating most of these problems has become much more straightforward. But isolating these problems without sacrificing the ID (internal diameter) of your well? That’s the real challenge.
Larger problem zones often span hundreds of feet and traditional big-bore straddles don’t stack neatly, which means that isolating several perforation intervals often limits the internal diameter of your well – Severely impacting your overall production rates.
Restricting the ID of your well also means that any future work on downhole intervals will be significantly more complicated, and it’s also important to note that most conventional straddles need to be deployed via a rig, which means bringing in expensive equipment and personnel for an extended period of remedial work.
That’s why we developed ReLine WL - a wide-bore casing patch that’s deployable via rig or wireline, capable of isolating multiple perforations in one trip and infinitely stackable – allowing you to tackle larger problem zones without decreasing the efficiency of your well.
When we set out to design ReLine WL, we knew that we wanted to create a device that:
Could be deployed using light intervention vessels
Stacked well
Offered a strong seal against water, gas, sand and other intrusions
Solved issues in one trip, to reduce the burden on stretched operators
We also wanted a configurable device that could be built using multiple corrosion resistant materials (CRAs), and configured to solve a multitude of downhole problems. The finished product ticks all of these boxes, and we’re proud to say that it can effectively eliminate gas and water production, rapidly seal a series of perforations and provide a comprehensive workover solution to any operator struggling to maintain well integrity.
ReLine WL is also ideally suited to jobs where well access is already restricted. Benefiting from a low original diameter and high (75%) expansion ratios, it’s ideally suited to deployment in crowded wells with a restricted ID.
In fact, ReLine WL has been successfully deployed in aging wells that have been patched multiple times in the past, and it’s proven to provide 700% more flow area vs. traditional straddles.
Testing under ideal conditions is all good and well, but we think that the most persuasive stats come from genuine use-cases. Recently, two ReLine WL casing patches were used to patch several water production zones in a well that was run and managed by a major Saudi operator.
Despite severe crowding from previous casing patches, we successfully deployed the casing patches via e-line, and expanded them to seal off the problem zones; reducing water production by 31% and allowing the well to be brought back online in record time.
Like all Coretrax products, ReLine WL has been engineered to restore well integrity with minimum faff or hassle. It’s easy to deploy; outperforms competing products and allows you to restore well integrity without worrying about restricting the ID of your well or complicating any future workovers.
For the modern operator, it offers a cost-effective and field-proven solution to an increasingly common problem and its highly-adaptable nature means that it’s well suited to a variety of applications.
