Apprenticeship Week: Jackie Adams

5th March 2020

Say hello to our fantastic team of Modern Apprentices! Based in Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth, they are all part of Expro’s four year SEMTA (Science Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies Alliance) Modern Apprenticeship Framework.

At Expro, we believe in building for the future, and are proud to support our apprentices by providing the technical skills and knowledge to help engineer their future careers.

Jackie Adams is one of our fourth year apprentices. Having joined Expro in 2016, Jackie is in his final year and now putting his skills into practice. Working alongside experienced Expro employees, he supports the Wireline team through applying academic theories to operational projects and learning new skills.

What do you enjoy most about the Modern Apprenticeship?

I enjoy that I am able to be continuously learning throughout the Modern Apprenticeship. Each day brings something new, along with facing new challenges with each task I am set.

Why did you decide to join the scheme?

I saw the Modern Apprenticeship as an alternative route to university, which would benefit me hugely. The apprenticeship route provides great opportunities to learn and develop my skills on the job, whilst gaining recognised qualifications to help further my career prospects.

What have you learnt during your time at Expro?

I have learnt a large amount about Wireline maintenance and operations, and the importance of safety being the number one priority for all tasks, big and small.

How has taking part in the Modern Apprenticeship benefited you?

Since starting as an Expro Modern Apprentice, I’ve gained valuable knowledge and skills that have helped me complete maintenance and operations tasks to a safe and high standard, leading to further development and learning opportunities within the company.
