Recovering gas to cut emissions, support energy security, and create shared value
In North Africa, Expro eliminated routine flaring at a remote site with a modular gas recovery facility, reducing emissions, generating energy, and creating significant revenue.
We partnered with an operator to eliminate routine flaring of associated gas at a remote satellite gathering station. With no access to processing infrastructure, the gas had historically been flared - creating emissions and lost value. A fast, reliable solution was required to reduce carbon impact while maintaining safe and efficient operations.
We worked with the client to deliver a modular gas recovery facility designed for rapid deployment and long-term performance. The system captures gas from the production process and exports it to an existing network, eliminating routine flaring. Recovered gas is used to generate on-site power, reducing reliance on diesel and improving overall efficiency.
The facility recovers around 400,000 m³ of gas a day, avoids approximately 292,000 tonnes of CO₂e annually, and generates an estimated $16 million each year. Delivered with over 95% local workforce content, it shows how collaboration can reduce emissions, enhance energy use, and deliver lasting environmental, economic, and social value.
