- A customer seeking time saving solutions presented Expro with an opportunity to deploy an AERO eccentric reamer for a reaming while drilling operation. The AERO reamer would provide not only hole conditioning but prevent the need for a dedicated reamer run
- Run was performed on a 6-3/4", 2-mile lateral in the Delaware Basin
Expro Excellence
- The AERO eccentric reamer has an active reaming diameter of 6-13/16” and a passive driftdiameter of 6-1/2”. The eccentric blades of the reamer are in line, providing a true pass-through diameter when not in rotation
- The AERO eccentric design provides improved drill-out capability, steerability and hole quality to ensure accurate casing installation throughout until total depth is achieved
Value to Client
- Utilizing AERO, the operator successfully reamed while drilling a total of 6,363 ft. The AERO technology supported a smooth, issue-free casing installation operation. It also saved valuable time by eliminating a dedicated reamer run or the need to back ream out the hole for hole conditioning
- The need for a dedicated reaming run was eliminated
- Time Savings of approximately 24 hours, and $60K of rig time
- Safety improved by reducing personnel exposure to additional pipe handling risks
