Case Study

Small patch, big impact: How Expro helped bring a well back online

In Brief

Smallest patch in-country brings well back online

Product Line

Customer Challenges

  • The well encountered a casing integrity issue during workover in October 2024.  After multiple failed cement plug tests, a casing leak was identified between 4,385ft and 4,475ft.  Despite earlier cement bond logs (CBL/VDL) indicating good cement behind the 5" liner, pressure testing of the liner failed, confirming compromised integrity.  The challenge was further complicated by the unavailability of a casing patch this small in country, leading to temporary suspension of the well

Expro Excellence

  • A ReLine HYD patch with a 3.821" internal diameter was chosen to accommodate the planned ESP string and complete the workover. Expro engineering collaborated closely with the customer to select a suitable and available work string for patch installation

Value to Client

  • Following the successful installation, the casing was pressure tested, and the shoe drilled out, allowing the customer to proceed with the remaining workover operations
  • Thanks to careful planning and flawless execution, Expro Coretrax delivered the project objectives, installing the smallest patch ever run in country and enabling the customer to bring the well back online
