Milestone 200,000 man hours free LTI operation at first modular gas plant in India

Customer Challenges

• Our customer was looking for a bespoke fast track modular gas plant, the first of its kind in North Eastern (Assam) India
• The customer was experiencing a number of challenges from the early monetisation of its assets, fast track delivery, bespoke solution, remote and operational challenges and lastly stringent process quality parameters from the end user
• Expro helped overcome these challenges by offering a bespoke solution, which help meet all of the customer’s main challenges. We were awarded the project based on our global track record on similar projects
• Expro was awarded the first modular gas plant in India which was due to be commissioned by March 2018
• This project was taking place in a remote part of the North East of India. This area of operation was very challenging due to both the connectivity of both travel, logistics and extreme weather conditions
• 2020 has brought additional challenges of COVID-19 travel and movement restrictions

Expro Excellence

• Expro delivered a fast track world-class modular gas system. We designed a modular gas plant with minimum lifts, engineered plug and play process equipment, all connections were designed prefabricated to take less time during the installation phase of the project
• Our engineering team developed the gas to power concept to help reduce hydrocarbon flaring
• Due to the operation challenges of the remote location, Expro designed a full-automated system which required less human interference
• The biggest challenge around the operational area was the non-availability of a proper medical facility for COVID-19 quarantine or treatment centre for periodic crew change
• Expro managed to get hospitals registered despite communication challenges with both, monitoring vehicles and personnel movement during crew changes
• Our team planned and responded in a timely manner to handle the dynamic territorial and pandemic challenges, which may have resulted in the plant being shutdown and this would have had a significant impact on the customer’s gas sale commitment and would have eroded their revenue and margins

Value to Client

• With the existing territorial and the COVID-19 challenges, Expro achieved 200,000 man days of LTI free days from the start of the project to the date of commissioning (11 August 2020)
• Expro assisted the customer to deliver 30mmscfd (on average) to their customers
• The power transmission was executed safely to the customer’s well site and GGS for safe and efficient production. Expro’s innovative solution of gas to power generation was successfully commissioned and operational. This reduced the flaring of hydrocarbons and reduced the opex spend on the client side for power
• The process engineering philosophy was designed to achieve 100% uptime for the customer
• During the COVID-19 situation, a number of other oil and gas facilitates operating in the state of Assam were struggling and had to shutdown for safety reasons, whereas Expro managed to continue operating in a safe manner; both in terms of equipment and personnel health
