CoilHose™ delivers efficient, low‑risk unloading of two offshore wells, showcasing the performance and commercial value of the Hydra Integrated Solution
Newly drilled offshore wells in Indonesia are subject to significant operational constraints arising from limited deck space, reduced crane capacity, and stringent economic pressures to minimize intervention-related expenditure
Two completed wells required fluid displacement to reservoir depth, as the sensitive reservoir formation could only withstand minimal fluid ingress. The primary challenge for the customer was to successfully unload these wells at depths of 2,500 m and 2,200 m prior to sliding side door (SSD) activation
These platforms, designed as minimalistic installations, necessitate an integrated approach that enables multiple services to be executed from a single operational footprint. The restricted deck area and limited accommodation capacity render traditional multi-supplier intervention models impractical
The campaign therefore required a consolidated intervention solution capable of delivering Slickline, E-Line, and efficient displacement and unloading of completion fluids within the platform’s operational constraints
Expro Excellence
Expro addressed these challenges through deployment of the Hydra solution, a fully integrated multi-intervention system consolidating Slickline, E-Line, and well unloading services into one compact package. Using CoilHose™ technology in place of conventional Coiled Tubing eliminated the requirement for multiple contractor spreads
The Hydra solution combined mechanical slickline for drift runs, E-line for SSD manipulation with stroker, and CoilHose™ for nitrogen unloading into a single integrated intervention system, with all services rigged up and deployed using the Well Intervention mast. Modular front-end packages enabled rapid transitions between services while utilizing the same mast infrastructure, reducing footprint and POB and improving operational efficiency. Conventional standalone packages would have required multiple mobilizations and repeated rig-up and rig-down activities, significantly extending the campaign
Value to Client
Excellent cooperation and collaboration between Expro and the client’s intervention team during the project
The Hydra solution substantially enhanced rig-up and rig-down efficiency, enabling faster execution of operations supported by a multidisciplinary team working with a reduced POB Integrated approach
The operation successfully recovered 110 bbl and 161 bbl of well fluid from the respective wells, enabling immediate production start-up at 20 MMSCFD
The two well completion project was completed without downtime, NPT, or HSEQ incidents, thereby delivering optimal value to the client
The client now regards CoilHose™ as the preferred method for nitrogen unloading operations
