- A major operator in the Gulf of Mexico sought a solution to save time during completion operations
- A major operator sought a solution to be used in an open hole completion operation of a deepwater well in the Gulf of Mexico. The operator’s goal was to fill-up while running the completion string to total depth (TD), but also have the ability to screw into GTM69 connections if deemed necessary
Expro Excellence
- The Drill Pipe Module of the VERSAFLO™ Switch equipped with GTM69 connections on both the upper and lower ends was selected to provide safe, fast, and efficient fill-up without the need to mechanically screw in the top drive to the drill string
Value to Client
- The completion string was successfully run to TD while using the VERSAFLO™ Switch for fill up operations. Due to the geometry of the well, a tight spot was encountered while running down the casing. The GTM69 connection on the VERSAFLO™ Switch allowed the operator to be able to screw in and circulate through the tight spot
- Generated time savings by eliminating the need to screw in the top drive to fill
- Allowed the operator the ability to screw in when needed
