Expro were engaged by a customer to discuss solutions to improve production from one of their wells on gas lift. Over a period the customer was seeing a decline of oil production from the well due to the increase of water cut, which subsequently decreased the efficiency of the well's legacy gas lift design
The customer was looking for the most effective and cost efficient method of improving oil production
The solution proposed was to install an additional gas lift capability below the lowest existing gas injection point
Modelling indicated the installation of the new, lower gas injection point would double the production from the well
Expro Excellence
The customer used a Slickline deployed Expro Kinley Perforator tool to install a 16/64" check valve 412m below the bottom gas lift mandrel
The customer had prepared the well prior to the well remediation by drifting and cleaning the well bore as well as bleeding down the annulus to create a slightly overbalanced condition
Deployment of the Kinley Perforator on Slickline enabled the customer to minimise costs
Expro has a significant track record with over 20,000 runs with the Kinley Perforator tool
Value to Client
The customer was able to optimise the lift performance of the well
Expro saved the customer - 50% on the intervention cost by using the Kinley Perforator tool vs a traditional gas lift pack-off assembly which also requires additional hardware in the wellbore and creates a smaller ID creating a production restriction in the well
The successful completion of this intervention has resulted in Expro replicating this service on other assets for this customer
Expro's Kinley Perforator lowered the overall risk to the customer due to the reduce time Slickline was required to be rigged up on the well. This also equated to less asset down time. increased asset operating time and helped reduce the associated like for like operational carbon emissions for the customer
