Customer Challenges
Expro were approached to provide Octopoda® evaluates D-annuli condition annulus intervention services to inspect the D-Annuli in four wells. The overall objectives of the project were as follows:
- Determine the fluid levels in the D-annuli
- Confirm the top of cement (TOC) in each of the D-annuli
- Take fluids samples from various points in the D-annuli
- Swap out the existing D-annuli contents with inhibited fluid
- Perform a camera inspection in the D annuli
- Log the casing wall thicknesses

Value to Client
- The customer was able to determine the fluid level and successfully confirm the TOC in all the D-annuli surveyed, this allowed the customer validate the well condition
- The D-annuli contents were swapped out with inhibited fluid and biocides to mitigate the risks associated with corrosion and microbial growth
- World first for annulus intervention with this specific type of application has proven to be successful in providing data to the customer to enable decision making on asset life extension
- Based on the data gathered the customer subsequently initiated a project to survey an additional 11 wells
