Engineering Team Leader, Macaé Brazil

How would you describe your management style and how has it changed over the years?

I always try to manage and lead by example. In other words, when something is required from the team I try to set a good example. Having worked in the oil and gas industry for over 15 years, I’ve learnt that consistency is key to help my teams focus and achieve our goals. I believe a leader should always set a good example to encourage, motivate and keep the focus of those supporting you.

What is your biggest achievement to date – professional or personal?

When I first started as an Engineer Team Leader in 2012, Expro was awarded a contract with an operator in Brazil. We were working hard to prepare the project, as it was a key operation for both companies. My daughter was only one year old, and at the same time, I had started working towards my Post Graduate degree in Project Management, to help develop my skills as a team leader. Through a lot of commitment, dedication and focus, I achieved good results in both the customer project and my qualification. I´m very proud of what I achieved during this busy time and the success of the project carried out.

What three words would you use to describe your role?

Challenging, and requires a lot of commitment and dedication.

What do you like most about your job?

I love two things about my job. First, there is always something new to learn, this requires me to help education and support the continual development of my teams skills.

Second, the people. I work in a friendly environment where cultural diversity and different points of view are embraced. I enjoy getting to spend time with different people, across different countries and being a part of a multidisciplinary team.

What is your motto or personal mantra?

With a bit of inspiration and a lot of dedication you can achieve whatever you want.

Best place in the world you’ve been to and why?

During my time with Expro, I’ve had many great opportunities to visit countries across different parts of the world. Including wonderful places across, Europe, Latin and North America, but the best place I’ve been was the USA, I was warmly welcomed and like the style they conduct with their life and families.

What is on your bucket list?

Make sure I am involved in key projects, not only for Expro but, the future of the oil industry across the region. I would also like to achieve a Master Degree in Reservoir Engineering and travel with my family to visit new places, countries and cultures.
