Offshore Europe 2025 found the energy industry facing significant challenges and uncertainties for the North Sea. But it also demonstrated the industry’s capabilities and determination to seize the sizeable opportunities that remain.
If there’s one word that defines the North Sea energy industry it’s innovation: in technologies, flexible business models and adapting to circumstances to get things done. There are still many untapped resources in the region, including a talent pool that will shape the next generation of the nation’s energy sector.
Opportunities for individual companies to thrive are still out there. But the real prize will come from collaborations or partnerships between supply chain providers, operators and policymakers. The industry is evolving, and there’s growing recognition that the solutions for the energy transition are no longer binary. Everyone must be flexible enough to adapt if they are to remain relevant.
Expro is part of that evolution. We support the industry with products and services that are constantly evolving to match our customers’ requirements today and tomorrow.
Our production optimization solutions maximize efficiency and output, reduce downtime, boost return on investment, and streamline operations.
We are a leading global provider of well intervention and integrity services and the world’s largest independent wireline service supplier.
Our well decommissioning services and technologies cover every aspect of the process, from initial stage planning support and advanced data gathering to effective plug and abandonment.
We bring over 50 years of expertise in Well Flow Management to the carbon capture, utilization and storage sector, providing products and services for the testing, construction, and operation of CO2 wells.
Expro at Offshore Europe
Offshore Europe has traditionally been important for us. We first attended it 50 years ago, the same year that we secured a landmark contract with U.S. operator Hamilton Brothers to support the historic Argyll field - the UK’s first producing North Sea oil field. Half a century on, Expro has grown into a billion-dollar global energy services company with thousands of employees worldwide.
“Like Expro, Offshore Europe has stood the test of time. No one can deny the depth of engagement and the quality of conversations - something we’ve experienced once again during our 50th year of attendance,” said Carole Paley, UK Managing Director.
“This milestone reflects not only Expro’s enduring presence but also the resilience of Offshore Europe. Over the decades, the event has adapted through oil-price crashes, venue shifts, and the ongoing challenges of the energy transition, yet each challenge has driven new levels of ingenuity and innovation. Offshore Europe has consistently provided the platform where progress is shared, tested, and celebrated, reinforcing its role as a hub for collaboration and community.
“As the sector charts its path toward a sustainable future, the debates are real and the stakes are high. But Offshore Europe remains the place where our industry comes together to connect and build the next chapter.”
It was refreshing to hear technical and supply chain leadership from oil and gas to CCUS and from drilling to asset leadership, engaging and sharing their challenges. Key discussions included the UK tax regime, drilling licensing, and production optimization with integrity and well decommissioning.
The Expro stand at this year’s Offshore Europe was well attended once again. There were many quality conversations around our well decommissioning offering (including our DFOS distributed fiber optic sensing intervention system) , CCUS (our talent, expertise, and technologies like our FLUID GRIP® non-marking tong, iTONG™, and SafeWells® ), well integrity (including our CoilHose™ Light Well Circulation System and Octopoda® annulus intervention system), and production optimization (including lifecycle solutions from Coretrax).
It wasn’t just our products and services that attracted attention at the exhibition. Overall, we provided 650 coffees from 22,500 coffee beans and 900 scoops from our highly popular ice cream counter. We also measured our step count - 120,000 steps a day for our team!
In the conference, Anthony Onukwu, Lead Subsurface Engineering and Technical Authority for Production Technology at Expro, chaired two popular technical sessions on oil and gas redevelopment and field optimization.
“Expro is proud to be present and relevant in the UK Basin and in Europe as a whole. We remain committed to the UKCS and supporting the entire energy market, and hope to see energy addition in line with energy transition projects,” continued Carole Paley, UK Managing Director.
“Expro continues to be committed to being the best at what we do, focused on remaining agile and having the competence and capacity to meet and exceed our customer needs.
“Here’s to the next 50 years of resilience and innovation, with Expro continuing to work alongside the industry to shape its future.”
